The first rally event for me this year, so was super excited to attend my local hill climb for their annual rally day, which also involved night stages which proved difficult for the photographer and believe it or not.....The drivers!

..

Sadly I didn't attend until mid afternoon due to other photoshoot commitments, meaning I didn't get the full day of action.

This was a competitive/timed hill climb so had fully kitted WRC cars all the way to classic rally machines including the legendary Audi Quattro against the clock all after noon.

Living only 20minutes away from this amazing venue, I confess I don't visit as often as I should but this event is a must for any car lover/photographer, new or old.

Perhaps one of the most spectacular cars in the whole event was an amazing Audi Quattro, some how parked in the public carpark, but still gained a tonne of speculation. This was extra special for me as I've never witnessed one of these cars in the flesh, and there where two of them in one day!

The carpark was also a photographers dream, with the Quattro, Ferrari 488Pista, Porsche GT3 RS, Audi R8 and much more.

With an hour break between 3.30-4.30pm to give the drivers a well earned rest, it was back to racing....

But in a different format, Rally lamps etc, it was a great night stage which is something I've defiantly not seen before and was super excited to witness this spectacle.

The artist part of me came out to try and get some stunning light trail images of the cars tearing through the woods, which I think I succeeded on this front.

Myself as a photographer in the pitch black woods wasn't the only one testing my boundaries as we had several cars spin, and end up in the sand pits which sadly delayed the racing for a while at a time, which was also a good opportunity to flick through my images and re-think my settings....THERES A POSITIVE IN EVERY NEGETIVE SITUATION!

This is also great practice for the upcoming Wyedean stage rally In Forest of Dean on the 16th November, which include full on mud and gravel stages twisting through tight woodland.

Here are a small selection from the events images, hope you enjoy!
